Neurofeedback

What Is Neurofeedback?

If you’re struggling with anxiety, sleep, focus, and other life-impairing symptoms, it might be more physiological than psychological! Neurofeedback training is a non-invasive technique used to rewire the brain to perform more optimally and reduce symptoms.

Neurofeedback Training Process:

Neurofeedback (NFB) is a noninvasive technique that assists in building or rebuilding neural pathways (how the brain communicates) to promote healthier brain functioning. This training happens through operant conditioning (a method of learning new behaviors) using tv and sound as a reward. Sensors are used to allow our technology to read your brainwave activity.

During the session, you’ll watch a movie or tv show. The neurofeedback software tracks when brainwaves are operating within or outside the parameters set for optimal functioning. It communicates to your brain whether to produce more or less of certain types of behavior by impacting the quality of video and sound coming from the show.

Standard practice is to do 20 sessions of NFB and then have an qEEG to assess client progress and need for further treatment. This process is repeated until your specific goals are met. Most of the time, NFB is not a stand-alone treatment. NFB can be enhanced by talk therapy, optimal nutrition, and adequate sleep; depending on goals and needs.

Determining Neurofeedback Protocols:

We use qEEG data, brain mapping, and clinical reports to determine protocols for neurofeedback. The EEG data is sent off to a team of specialists, including a Neurologist and Electroencephalographer (EEG interpreter), who locate any dysregulation in the brain. You will also complete a 300 question assessment for severity of symptoms.

Evidence-based research has shown NFB to help with mental health issues, learning disabilities, performance levels, and other potentially life impairing symptoms. For research on NFB, please visit: https://isnr.org/isnr-comprehensive-bibliography

Treatment Includes: A minimum of 20 sessions scheduled for 55 minutes, including 35 minutes of NFB training. The remaining session time is reserved for symptom assessment and set up.
